Music and Riots - Issue 27: Comeback Issue

We’re officially back! After several delays, dramas and life happening all the time, we can honestly say out loud that we’re back for good. With that in mind, we can say that our next issue will be out on March 20th and it will be a proper comeback. Four years later, we return with a sort of comeback issue. We interviewed a bunch of artists that we love and respect and filled this edition with honest content, perhaps to make a safer return or just because we’re afraid to do it again. High Vis was an obvious choice for the cover story: they create a unique sound deeply rooted in working-class British life, where themes like the day-to-day economic struggle and emotional vulnerability come together, with members coming from real-life backgrounds and no fear of exploring themes of survival, trauma, and community.

Actually, community is what we are all about, and not because it’s almost a trend to be cool – that way, it lacks real meaning. We can’t ignore the social and political mess that we are living in. There is a lot of angst and a general feeling of injustice everywhere. We managed to watch a genocide on live TV — what about that? It went too far and people managed to normalize the absurd lack of humanity, compassion, and empathy. We need to do more, but without cutting the bullshit off, we can’t do anything without compromising. It goes to every one of us. People should care and actually do something. Fascism is spreading like a social cancer and there’s no point in democracy when ignorance is celebrated, and now the angry mob mentality is no longer the exception, it’s the rule.

Going back to this comeback issue, we also managed to write - or ramble, you pick - about some of our best albums of the year. Our views all over the magazine are expressed in the most organic, genuine, and honest way possible. We’re back and we hope you all enjoy this comeback!

PS: NOFX is all over this editorial.
