Daughters, the Rhode Island-based noise impresarios, have released their first album in eight years, "You Won't Get What You Want". It's their fourth overall and first for Ipecac Recordings. In 2010, shortly after the release of their last album, the members took some time out.
For a long time, it remained unclear whether and how the band would continue, but then one day at a dinner together and after two sold-out shows in their hometown of Providence in 2013, the band made the decision to continue.
Over the next four years, countless new ideas and 150 recordings were created, from which the band selected 10 for "You Won't Get What You Want", a title that is programmatic for both the album and the band. You never really knew what to expect from a new Daughters album, but to quote the band's guitarist Nick Sadler: "Since we are a rock band at heart, don't expect to expect anything."
