Laurie Anderson - Amelia (Black Vinyl)

The titular protagonist in Laurie Anderson's new album is Amelia Earhart, a ravishing recreation of the trailblazing pilot's final flight, told through soaring orchestral suites from the Filharmonie Brno, as well as lyrics based partly on Earhart's pilot diaries and partly from Anderson imagining her thoughts and experiences at such altitudes. The avant-garde artist is joined by fellow mercurial greats like guitarist Marc Ribot, and violinist and soloist Nadia Sirota.
